Hove Lagoon is shallow so we found a short mast and gave towing on the cable a go and it worked really well as a way to introduce beginners to foiling.

Popping onto Obstacles on your Wakeboard
Legend has it that a PWA event came to Hove one year - they launched at high tide and half got mashed. Pro or not, Hove shorebreak doesn't care, it will eat you if you get it wrong!
Yeah the PWA event ran for a few years in Brighton between the piers. The shorebreak was bad one year and it took down a lot of people. Us mortals can avoid high tide on days like this and still get a.good sail. But the Brighton - Hove shorebreak can be very tough on big days at high tide. All about timing ... timing of when you sail ... timing to go at a falt momnet and not make a mistake...
This isn’t a deep water start
Nice advices and biceps my frend 💪
Thanks!
What falls, or aggressive moves you should look out for, so that you dont injure your knee?
Thank you i get my board this week so excited 🎉
Cool vid! Sometimes they dry up at low tide, very important to stay behind the swell and wait for the set to come through to feel the beach with water. Worst case lean back, push super hard on the back foot and let the white water guide you in!
'Promosm'
Ah yes the days of the box
great tip, thanks!
nice cheeks
I snowboard so it comes naturally to me but I forgot
what sailsize?
I think it was a 4.2 or 4m
Thx
dat aas
This video is so old and forgotten
Thanks for the tips! Good vid, it took me years of training to get in at my home spot - on some days it is similar to Hove but dead onshore and sandy...also sometimes underpowered. Has been easier to ride 4 meter waves than to get in that thing :D
Well done - you are so right the getting out in onshore rough days can be so tough.
Nice explanation, thanks 👍
I would love to see a more complex tutorial on line tension, Sometimes I do it right sometimes I do it wrong and I never know why 😅
Awesome! Thanks for the video, I’m new to wakeboarding but absolutely loving the sport so far! I’m hoping to try and progress to some simple surface tricks once I get my toe side edge sorted out. I’ve found that I’ve been getting whipped round a lot of tight corners because I haven’t been on my toes enough.
Super tip!
I'm a beginner and this is extremely useful. Thank you.
Legends Sam 🤘
Hi, it seams you are using K4 fins on your Fanatic board. Could compare it with G10 or other type of material?
ty
thanx, very useful. I will try it this season. One problem may be balancing my big 3,5m Fanatics board with one hand.
Yeah big boards do make transporting your gear it a lot harder.
Very informative. Thanks for he safety tips
Thank you 🙏 just picked up board with same fin setup, do you have a thruster setup video
Can you make a comparison between heavy surfers' and lightweight surfers' equipment and setup ? Assume you have 2 surfers with 200lbs(90kg) and 150lbs(70kg) weight. Or two surfers of same weight 70kg but different height, 160cm vs 190cm... Just assume same wind conditions ,same surf experience, say 20knots wind and intermediate level, both are using harness line... How should they choose their equipment?
Good idea -see if we can do something on that for you
Great
Thank you very much, i broke several masts since then i am more cautious..
Thank you very much
Man, u guys used to let me out with your gear back in 2001 in heavy shorebreak. I couldnt even beach start or tack! Oh the days before health and safety!
Thanks! !!very helpful.
I've been doing this so wrong. Thanks for saving me so much time. xD
How do I go from the beginner position to the further back and out positions for footstraps? It feels all wrong. What else do I need to change. I can plane/blast in both footstraps in the beginner position. Thanks
It is quite hard to give advice without seeing you sailing. It sounds like you need to get a bit more pressure on the fin so you can lean out more. try pushing through your back foot a bit more and leaning further out committing more to the harness. You should find with some practice that helps. You will get much better performance with the states further out and back in most circumstances.
Thats a nice vid👍🏼
Great tips!
Very helpful. Very different from water-skiing. Temptation is to get up too soon.
Thank you👍
Wow so fun😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Thanks
Thanks
Thanks Lucas! Another thing that was a big change to me (Da Curve 80ltr, 64kg) was footstraps' position + baseplate. One idea back and turned my board so loose and made it faster, was told that put me more on the rocker :P.
Thank you. Greetings from Brazil
Thank you very much, I'll be trying and practing next time.
Great video - clear, and straight to the point!
Very useful! PS Don't you spell timing with one m only??🤣🤣
it seems so simple ! 😂😂😂😭😭😭
So true !!! When you can do it easy - when you are learning or make a mistake it can be very messy !!
Woow
Thanks!
